Curriculum and Skills
About the Pre-K and Kindergarten Programs

Language

Oral language and understanding are developed in a rich literacy environment. The children are constantly exposed to written materials either in stories read by the teachers or from exploration of the books located in the class and in the library. Experiences with written language take place in an enjoyable oral context before children are expected to read. This familiarize them with the standard syntactical forms, vocabulary, and basic story structure,  providing them with the tools necessary for learning to read. They learn that oral language can be represented by pictures and print. Children are introduced to terminology: letter, word, sentence, sound, and rhyme as they hear and discuss high quality literature selections.

Mathematics

The development of mathematical concepts is taught through real-life situations and the use of a variety of tools, manipulatives, and materials. Enrichment activities are an integral part of the program and there are opportunities for making connections with other disciplines.

Science

The science curriculum is also interwoven into the thematic content currently being studied.

Games, songs & art projects

Through games, songs and art projects, the children learn to process the world around them. Play is the work of children!

Physical education & motricity

A psycho-motor program helps develop gross and fine motor skills.

Social skills

Social, emotional and physical skills are developed to allow children to function productively in their school environment. Children are encouraged to use a variety of skills to process, explore, and express thoughts and concepts.

Teaching Methods & Environment

A warm, secure, and loving environment is provided at our Pre-nursery students to ensure happiness and adjustment of these young children.
